Self-Advocacy is the process of where individuals learn about their preferences and limitations. Once taught, the person learns how to articulate needs, and make decisions about their own life. It teaches the individual how to obtain information to understand things that are of interest, finding out who can provide support, identifying rights and responsibilities, problem solving, listening and learning, and reaching out to others when help and friendship is needed.
